I want wednesday

The job I really really want, is the job of Mommy! I've had the job of daughter, sister, aunt, wife, friend, teacher, co-worker and I've LOVED them all. Now it's time for me to take on a new role, and I just can't wait to see how well I do it. So, that's what I want on this Wednesday. Please look around my blog and see what we're all about and why we want to adopt. Thanks for visiting!

tt big button

So I'm taking on a very special tackle it this week. On Wednesday, my husband and I will celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary, and I have some making up to do. Last year I accidentally agreed to work very late at a public event for my agency on the night of our fifth anniversary. I felt terrible after I realized my mistake, but there was no getting out of it. This year, I want to make that up and then some. We've planned to take a moonlight hike along the Tahoe Rim Trail for our anniversary this year. Gregg is in charge of getting all the gear we'll need and I am in charge of the picnic. Our anniversary is on a Wednesday night, so we'll need to go hiking after work, which will add to my challenge. I really want to make it special, so my project is to develop and execute the perfect hiking picnic menu! I need as much advice on this as possible, so anyone with suggestions, please comment. Thanks and I'll let you all know how it went next week.

I have been in love with books and reading truly for as long as I can remember. I have deeply fond memories of all of my siblings and myself gathered on my parents' bed at night, with Mother reading us some cherished story. Such classics as Where the Red Fern Grows and Ole' Yeller, to name just a couple, were the after dinner fare in our house. Daddy often worked far away and would be gone for as much as a couple weeks at a time. The evenings passed so pleasantly waiting for his return as we wandered through the pages of first one and then another family adventure...

Some Firsts

Today was a day of firsts for me, and what exciting ones they were. Gregg and I took a ride on a rugged Jeep trail, rated a 3.5 out of a scale of 6. This was the ride from Blue Lakes toward Ebbetts Pass. Gregg had the good fortune of making the entire run Wednesday and really wanted me to see some of the scenes. He drove us out. At first the trail was simply twisty and a little steep, with some gradual leaning to the side. The trail runs above and along Blue Creek, which runs out of the lake. The trail became gradually rockier and more rutted. Gregg crawled the Jeep gently over each boulder, as if he'd been doing it for years. I was truly impressed with his confidence and skill. Gradually the trail eased down into a broad meadow, with the creek meandering across...

I have been spending some time in tracing my family roots. This is most interesting and compels one to deeper and deeper inquiry. At one point I was lamenting the time used, energy expended and the complexities of unraveling all the small mysteries involved with this venture; but then my son told me that the information I have shared with him and that I have sent to my grandson has caused him to become interested in his heritage. Then I realized that we who are here now are the bridge between yesterday and tomorrow and that if we fail in our duty the link could be broken. Not only can such an endeavor enlighten our family, it is possible that we may also have some tidbit of information which would fill gaps in someone else's records. In any case, I have decided that it is time well spent and I am enjoying it immensely.
