Now, maybe some folks might think that a summer wind storm, followed by a morning rainstorm might detract from the enjoyment of a spontaneous fishing and camping trip. But the truth is, in spite of those minor complications, we had a really great time this weekend. We took our Wrangler down China Springs Road, a very generous name for the rocky, rutted, slanted jeep trail, which offers some fantastic vistas of the East Fork of the Carson River, and the foothills of the Sierra... |

Camping
We are headed out to the East Fork of the Carson River for a night. There is a broken dam about 5 miles south where you make a right turn and head west into the foothills of the Sierras. A jeep trail takes you 2 to 3 miles back where there’s a bend in the river called horseshoe bend. We are in search of a deep hole to catch a BIG trout. If we don’t find a hole, we may try to pull a log or a rock out of the river with a winch and create a nice fishing hole for the next time we head back there but for today, the fish have been biting downstream of the area and we are hopeful to at least catch dinner. Hopefully the next post will have fish pictures but for now, X marks the spot on the map.

This is what the word siblings means to me. This picture was taken on my fourth birthday. I was the recipient of that wonderful red tricycle, but I just couldn't enjoy it unless I could ride it with my little brother Dean on the back. Because of my brothers and sisters, I was able to know what it means to always have a friend around. My parents taught me about who to be, but my siblings helped me to learn who I was. Today I counseled a young woman about one of the most difficult decisions she has made in her short life as a mother. It made me want to search out what others think of motherhood. So here are some very famous quotes. I found some of them very comforting. A mother's yearning feels the presence of the cherished child even in the degraded man. --George Eliot Women know the way to rear up children (to be just). They know a simple, merry, tender knack of tying sashes, fitting baby-shoes, and stringing pretty words that make no sense. And kissing full sense into empty words. --Elizabeth Barrett Browning Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. --Elizabeth Stone A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. --Washington Irving All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother. --Abraham Lincoln |

1. When will we finally find the child we so desire to adopt? It's hard to be patient and to keep the faith, but this we must do.
2. LOST was the last good tv show I watched. I'm hooked and can't wait for the final season to start! 3. Everything has its beauty but the trick is to remember to always appreciate the beauty that surrounds us daily.
4. Freshly caught trout is what I had for dinner. Gregg and I went with a friend down to the Carson River and pulled out a few gorgeous trout, what a pleasant way to spend an evening. 5. I'd like your dreams to all come true.
6. Cozy in my bed is where I want to be right now.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to a fun drive to the bay in our new Miata, tomorrow my plans include hiking in the Muir Woods and Sunday, I want to go shopping in the city! |
