The Nursery

Well, we've decided on the theme for the nursery. Being a teacher and both of us being lovers of books, it's only natural that we'd look for a literary influence in our nursery theme. After some consideration of all the great children's authors, we decided to go with Beatrix Potter. Not only does this appeal to the book lovers in us, her stories are also such a beautiful celebration of both nature and the innocence of childhood. Gregg wasn't as familiar with the works of Beatrix Potter, but recently he saw a bio-pic of her life and became quite fascinated. I of course, have been a lover of Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny and Jemima Puddle Duck since my own childhood.

We might have gone about this in the wrong way, because now that we've chosen a theme for the nursery, one that we both absolutely love, we're finding it difficult to find nursery items in this theme. If we had chosen Winnie the Pooh we'd have no trouble finding everything from crib sheets to wall decals. Even so, we're dedicated to creating the perfect nursery filled with the beautiful woodland creatures made so famous in the late 19th century.

Thanks to my mom and brother, we already have the baby book, Baby Grows Up with Peter Rabbit. Now we just need to find everything else to go with it. What exciting times, we just can't wait to hear from our adoption specialist that we've been selected as adoptive parents for some wonderful little baby!

Gregg & Rhonda

us
Us and Mt. Hood
It is our pleasure to introduce ourselves, we are Gregg and Rhonda. We want you to be able to get to know us as much as possible and hope that you like what you learn about us. Gregg has worked in electronics for the last 10 years. He holds an engineering degree and enjoys the technical challenges of work. Rhonda has been a teacher for 15 years and is wonderful with children. She earned her college degree in early childhood development. She has taught school for several years and is currently working to help young mothers learn parenting skills and responsibilities. We have been married for over 7 years and are best friends. When we discovered we couldn’t have children it was hard for both of us, but we have faith that there is a child out there waiting for us to love and care for. We enjoy spending time with our friend’s and relative’s children, and can’t wait to share our experience with our own child.
We hope to become parents and experience all the joys and challenges of raising a child. We want to be surrounded in hugs, feedings, laughter, crying, and even the dirty diapers that come with being a mommy and daddy. Our long term goal is to possibly adopt again, giving our 1st child a brother or sister to grow up with. A family of 4 seems ideal at this point, but you just never know!
As you will learn from many of the articles on this website, we love the outdoors and have the whole desert and mountains to explore. We like off-road sports, hiking in the mountains, snowshoeing, and camping. We enjoy cooking, watching sports, growing flowers in the spring, working in the garage, reading, and relaxing with a good movie. We both value and respect education and would help and encourage our child with schooling. We are active and maintain a healthy lifestyle. We take an interest in nutrition and try to eat well.
Our home is a safe loving environment and a child will be a welcome part of our life.We have a large extended family that lives all over the country and we get together often for special family events. Our family is excited about our plans to adopt and they are always willing to lend a helping hand. We are within driving distance to both our parents’ homes making it easy to visit for holidays or special events. We are excited and look forward to becoming parents through adoption. So, here's to another adventure!Comments (0)

Nursery Ideas

I'm going to use this page to make notes of my ideas for the nursery. The Beatrix Potter theme is what we're dedicated to and it will take some work to get our nursery looking just like we want it. I really don't go for "trendy" styles in baby clothing and decor. Beatrix Potter is classic, celebrating nature and the innocence of youth.

Cool Evening Desert

That's right, I said desert, not dessert. This evening after dinner, the heat got the better of us and we had to go for a refreshing drive in the desert. We hopped in the wrangler and headed out, top down! We drove out a long, familiar and dusty road into a popular off-road area. After Gregg crawled the jeep over the few small boulders he could find, we drove up to the top of a butte and did some stargazing above Carson Valley. We headed back home and are ready for bed now that darkness has fallen and the house has cooled down.

It's a Boy!

Welcome Jacob!

We are so pleased to announce that we've adopted our beautiful son, Jacob Aaron. He's healthy and happy and we're over the moon. Pictures to follow.
